Hotpot Dinner Review

Big Straw has once again taken to the town and done another food review! We’ve switched up from having sweets to tackling a local restaurant! This time we went to Little Corner Grill House and had a warm hotpot dinner on a rainy afternoon. We ordered two soup bases, a vibrant tomato broth and a milky bone broth, along with a plethora of add-ins.

It was an experience of all time, our members will tell you.

Iris: A hot pot place you’d find in the backrooms, a truly subliminal space. The garlic was an unsettling shade of snot grey. NO SACHA SAUCE AND FOR WHAT

Dharma: I received intel that the meat at this place was of suspicious quality. There were some suspicious looking pieces of meat but no one has died yet so I guess it’s acceptable. Why was it dead empty except for us. Is this a money laundering front. The tomato broth was good omgg I love tomatoes. - Dharma

Anon: Literally nobody else was there except us that was kinda weird and almost freaky?? But good value for money

Andrew: Big meat guy right here. They didn’t have any tofu which was an L for protein but they had eggs so I’m happy. Bring your own tofu if you’re vegetarian/vegan though. Hit a crazy push day after, so lowkey be ready to hit the gym after.

Namya: As the resident vegetarian, lowkey approved… they had vegetarian broth and ample vegetarian add-ins; plus, they were okay with keeping meat and vegetarian foods separate, as inherently chaotic as it was. My only tripe gripe was the lack of tofu options: we went through the entire menu and they somehow didn't have any of them, until they did have one, which you would think they would mention to us after trying to order 4 other kinds of tofu. I don't think that was comprehensible. This experience taught me a lot about how much meat men can eat.

Jazz: There were no mung bean noodles :( but they gave us sweet potato noodles instead :D the metal chopsticks were really hard to use because the food slipped right through

Cami: Tripe tripe tripe tripe tripe. The sauce area was also suspect it looked like it hadn’t been moved in ages like a historical monument

Santi: Having a split broth situation (and needing to keep them separate for dietary reasons) made the eating situation a little cramped and chaotic– tables with an option for multiple pots would be great! Will chime in that meat cuts were of good quality and tasty; my fave is the lamb!
