I am a bit more than a few mistakes,

So one little push is all it takes

To send me to the ground, and there I will stay.

But despite being cynical, I still crave

Validation from people I see every day.

Just kept together by trite praise

To keep me from crumbling or going astray.

I don’t want to smile and come off as fake,

And yet the real me isn’t who I display,

So I guess I would rather be opaque.

Uncaring, but seeing that with each day

I am less careful about the things I say,

Although I hope my friends are okay.

From responsibility, and, try as I may,
